I thought that this would be a good time to learn some words associated with barbecues. Those of you in the throes of Wiggle-mania will no doubt recognize la ensalada de frutas (yummy,yummy).
Barbacoa
los pepinillos en vinagre=pickles
el queso=cheese
la mayonesa=mayonaise
la bandeja=tray
la mostaza=mustard
el ketchup=ketchup
las papas fritas=french fries
la hamburguesa=hamburger
la tarta de frutas=fruit tart
la servilleta=napkin
la sal y la pimienta=salt and pepper
el mantel=tablecloth
los perros calientes=hot dogs
el helado=ice cream
la torta=cake
la cesta de frutas=basket of fruit
la ensalada=salad
la gaseosa=soda
el jugo de fruta=fruit juice
la ensalada de frutas=fruit salad
las galletas=cookies
la mesa=table
...and don't forget "cerveza!"

The only spanish food words I remember are: gazpacho- sopa frio con tomates (gazpacho-cold tomato soup). So if I go to Mexico that was the only thing I could have ordered until I stopped here today! I just love the illustration from that book!
