On December, 28th, 2014, we picked up our family and moved halfway across the country from suburban New York to Austin, TX. I had not even set foot in Texas before we moved, but my husband got a great job, and we couldn't pass up the opportunity. We pulled our kids out of their suburban NY schools, and dropped them into Austin city schools in the middle of the year, one each in High School, Middle School, and Elementary School.
We moved from a town in which we lived around one corner from my mother, and around the other corner from my sister, with my best friend from Middle School up the road, to a place where I didn't know anyone at all. We left the pediatrician that we'd had since our kids were babies. We left the girls' dance school. We left our dear friends. We left our beloved neighbors. We left every plan that I thought was firmly in place to see my children through their childhoods.
I am not, by nature, an adventurous person. I do not like change. I really do not like change. I do, however, love my husband, and need for us to be able to feed our children, so here we are. In Texas. Did I mention that we moved to Texas?
I'm going to be revamping Knot Sew Crafty in these next few months. I am going to show you around Austin, if you care to explore it with me, and I am actually going to try to learn various arts and crafts, and show even the least crafty among you that you can make things, and that you can enjoy making things. Please leave a comment and say hello, if you want. I'd love to hear from you.
