I'm not going to say that I can't believe that Bea is eight, because I can. She's so articulate and curious and funny and bright and energetic and clever that it's hard to believe that she didn't turn eight ages ago. What I can't believe is that I am the mother of an eight-year-old. Oy!
These are pictures from Beatrix's first birthday. They are not technically good pictures--it was one of those early digital cameras that had an annoying delay--but I love them.
If you look closely, you can see part of my face in the first picture and part of my knee in the second.
Oh, Happy Birthday to your daughter! 8!
I always say that parenting can be a time distortion - some days {not all} can last forever, but the years can fly by.

Yay Bea! You're Gr8!
My Lily will be 8 in a few months. Yep. She thinks she's 18.

Wow I think my littlies are going to be 8 in a blink of an eye too. It so makes you realise how quickly time goes. I love those teeth in the first shot.

Seems like a second ago that I was at the hospital meeting the Beatle for the first time . . . and when I told Georgia today that it was Bea's eighth birthday, she said, "Are you sure you don't mean her EIGHTEENTH birthday?" As hard as it is for me to imagine that it has been 8 years since that visit to the hospital, it is equally hard for me to remember that Bea really is only 8! And why do I keep quoting Georgia in this blog? I think it's because I like seeing her name typed out.
Happy Birthday, Miss Bea!
