This is what I think about when I wake up early on a Labor Day Monday morning:
--Was Barack Obama's mother really named Stanley? And why did Sarah Palin name her sons Track and Trig?
--How can I live more simply and also read my 700+ blog feed subscriptions?
--Is it really bad that my wrist hurts every time I type? Does that mean that I have carpal tunnel syndrome or that I will get carpal tunnel syndrome someday?
--What if I made a "done" list instead of my customary endless "to-do" list? OK, realistically I'd have to do both because if I don't have a "to-do" list, I won't remember anything that I have to do and then there won't be anything to put on a "done" list. I'm going to try it this week and see how it goes. Maybe my life will change radically?
--Why are Japanese Craft Books so much more delightful than most of their American counterparts?
--If I started walking now, how long would it take me to get to Meet Me At Mikes?
--Why does Toll House cookie dough taste so much better than the baked cookies?
--Why does the word lisp have an "s" in it?
--Maybe this is the year that I finally learn how to knit?
--Why don't my kids like "Yo Gabba Gabba" as much as I do? And would somebody please make some new episodes of "Max and Ruby" so that I don't go insane from watching the same ones over and over and over?
--How did the summer pass by with me only finishing two books? That's just sad.
--How can I get more visitors to leave comments? I know you're out there because I can see you on the teensy map!
Serious world issues, I know. I hope everyone has a relaxing Labor Day and that Gustav calms down!
Ha ha re: Yo Gabba Gabba! I LOVE that show and still have it DVR'd and every morning ask my 3 year old if she wants to watch it but she asks for Super Why or Little Einstein's (both are really good so I approve). Since she started watching the two a few weeks ago, she has abandoned Max & Ruby completely. She was such a fan I even made an earthworm cake for her 3rd bday last month. So sad, just shows she's growing up b/c she has moved on from her fave show as she has let go of her lovey, too. I'm not giving up on YGG, though. BTW, my fave episode is "Dance"! I'm enjoying perusing your blog. :)

Yep....sounds like a typical morning of random thoughts! Thanks for sharing. :)

I agree about 'lisp' and have often wondered how cruel it is that dyslexia is spelled the way it is...........I have just found your blog and it is delightful.

Awesome list. I love it. You have given words to many a passing thought through my brain. I can't wait for you to learn to knit! It is like riding a bike - very clumsy and silly at first, but once you learn you never forget. A word of caution though: it won't do anything for your carpal tunnel. I have it too, in my right elbow, from knitting and typing. I use a brace when I knit or type for longer periods and pop advil often. What else is a momma to do when there's spoons to stir, kids to lift, lunches to make, laundry to fold, dissertation committee members to appease and blogs to visit?

Why do comments make us so incredibly happy? I know I check for them, like, hourly!

Hey there, I'm sending "learn to knit" brainwaves your way. You.must.learn.to.knit. There! And to get more people to comment? Sew something cool, send a pic to Sew Mama Sew, and see if it gets mentioned. That'll bring 'ya some traffic! Believe me, I'm thinking about it. Oh, and here's some good little tidbits:

I've just found your blog today, so here's a comment. I'm in front of an English class and my battery is on 'low', so hopefully I'll be able to hit 'post' before my computer goes into hibernation....
(Ps. I'm about 1/2 an hour away from 'Mikes" but I've never been. Maybe in the school holidays. 3 weeks to go...)

Track and Trig? NOOOOO! Really?
I am glad my sons have moved on from Max and Ruby, but I am starting to feel that Little Bear, a show I once liked, is making me ill. As is, Wow, Wow Wubbzy.
The same four people comment on my blog. I asked people to delurk the other day and not. one. person. did. I felt super cool afterwards let me tell ya.
I love your blog and will try to comment more!

As a speech therapist, we often joke about about how the word lisp has an /s/ in it. I also wonder why the cookie dough tastes so much better than the cookies...I could care less about the end result...just FEED ME THE DOUGH!

Okay, okay, I'll give you comments. Since I don't have a blog of my own, I'm always afraid that leaving too many comments will become a Knot Sew Crafty piggyback blog! Is that cool? Since I'm new to this stuff, I don't know all the etiquette. Is that worse than "lurking?"

Oooh, you had me up until the Yo Gabba Gabba/Max & Ruby part. The only show I dislike more than those two is Caillou.
And now I want cookie dough.

To get people to comment, you have to comment on their blogs. If you choose the really popular bloggers, they won't usually reciprocate.
I don't know why there are some shows that are pretty good but only like, 6 or 8 episodes. George Shrinks is a great show, totally witty, and no new episodes. Sad.
And yes, you have carpel tunnel. So do I. For same reason. Ack!

Here is a comment for you. ;)
I have also wondered many a time about the word "lisp", like the word itself is already a big hurdle for all of the poor people to jump over that have a lisping problem. Seems cruel.
Oh, and Max and Ruby. I could repeat some of those episodes verbatim. Ugh. A friend of mine from college actually played Ruby this summer in the traveling production -- she's single and doesn't have kids, and I don't know how in the heck she dealt with hearing that theme song over and over and over and acting out the same scenes all summer long. Now that's a lot of repeat Max and Ruby!
