CMR makes the coffee at Knot Sew Crafty HQ. It's an unspoken part of our division of household labor. I only started drinking coffee a few years ago, and I'm not desperate for it in the mornings. If CMR isn't here, I just skip it or buy some somewhere later in the day. I never learned how to use the coffee machine, and I never really thought about it much.
Until today. My lovely friend Patty came over, with her happy-sunshine-baby Harry, and when I asked her if she wanted coffee or tea, she asked for coffee. I always thought I'd be able to make some in a pinch. Guess what? Not so much. I stood in front of the machine with the bag of grounds in my hand and realized that I didn't have the vaguest idea of what the ratio of grounds to water might be. I ended up serving Patty microwaved instant coffee.
Oh, the shame. The shame!
CMR says he'll give me coffee maker lessons and I promise to study hard.
I really hope she'll come back someday.
I'm ridiculously happy to hear I'm not the only coffee-maker-challenged person out there. Never can get the water-to-coffee ratio right. I'm with Caroline--the french press is almost foolproof. Plus it makes me feel all cosmopolitan and stuff.

Oh my God! I'm in a post! I feel very, very cool! Please
give yourself more credit - that was the best cup of microwaved
instant coffee I've ever had! And for the record, we don't have a
real coffee maker, we have a Keurig, that brews a single serving through a totally un-green little pre-portioned plastic cup! I can't measure out coffee either!

Haha! I grew up with a percolater and have no idea how to use a coffee machine outside of the ones in restaurants I've worked.
I have a sweet baby Harry, too!

Oh man. I have NO IDEA how to run a coffee machine...is that even the right word, coffee machine? Maker? I have no desire to learn, but I should. Who knows what company will want!

Oh, that's FUNNY! (the hubby just looked at me like I'm a bit off, sitting here giggling) You need a back-up french press!
