I've seen several posts lately in which people pick a word of the year. This is much more appealing to me than making a list of resolutions, which I never manage to keep. Instead, I'll focus on my chosen word and try to make everything in my life go towards reflecting it. For at least a week or two. Maybe.
And the word for 2010 is...
Haven
Doesn't it have a lovely ring to it?
The definition from Merriam Webster is as follows:
Pronunciation: \ˈhā-vən\
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English, from Old English hæfen; akin to Middle High German habene harbor
Date: before 12th century
1 : harbor, port
2 : a place of safety : refuge
3 : a place offering favorable opportunities or conditions <a haven for artists>
I'll talk more about why I picked Haven for 2010 in later posts, but now I am going to snuggle up in my favorite haven, my bed, and watch Julie and Julia with CMR.
Sleep tight everyone, except for those of you in other parts of the world whom I wish a good day!
Haven is a most excellent word. You should make a sign to put up somewhere to remind you. Haven - holds everything most important.

Happy New Year to you and your lovely gang! You inspired a word-of-the-year conversation at our lunch today, and here's what the kids came up with:
Diego - Tyrannosaurus (uh-oh!)
Ruben - Cookies (I wish I'd thought of that!)
And my word of the year is "Stretch." It's something that I would like to do more of with my body, my dollars, and my creative aspirations!
I love the photo of your girls. How I wish you lived right next door!

Very nice. Haven sounds particularly nice during a cold, windy weekend. Enjoy!

I think that might be just what I need right now: a refuge... K x
